The Stage is what attendees see during an event, while the Backstage is a private video chat that allows Speakers and Organizers to rehearse before going live in front of attendees. Not only are you able to rehearse, but the backstage is also perfect for testing your audio and video before the main event.
As a speaker, you need to be signed in to your Hopin account in order to access the backstage.
You should be receiving the backstage link from the Event Organizer. Once you have it please click on the link and then you will be prompted to enter the StreamYard Backstage.
Note: You will be redirected to the Event’s Registration page if you are not yet registered for the event.
Once you enter the StreamYard backstage, this is what you will see:
- Click on allow mic/cam access to continue
- The next step is to check your camera and microphone. You can also make use of the ‘mute’ and ‘Stop Cam’ buttons as you wish.
- You can go on to explore the settings option by clicking on the ‘Cam/Mic’ button on the right. This option allows you to set up your camera, audio, and green screen.
- You will now be inside of the Backstage Studio and you will be seeing whatever is being presented in there. You will need to wait until the organizer adds you to the stream, so be ready!
On the left-hand side, you have two areas. You can use the Private chat area to chat with the organizers and other speakers inside of the Backstage area. Use the Comments tab to see and participate in the Hopin’s Stage chat. This way you can have direct access from within the Backstage area to any comments on the Stage.
Note: Speakers cannot post messages in the Comments area in StreamYard backstage. They can only see messages coming from the Stage. Only the event organizer can post messages there.
If you wish to continue attending the event from the attendee's perspective, please hit the Return button at the bottom of the screen and you will be automatically brought into the event’s reception page.
